TV Snark is a television entertainment news site showcasing television newS, RECAPS & reviews, ratings, AND FORUMS, ALL WITH a side of our snarky thoughts (and yours).

We believe snarking can come from a place of love. Many times we mock our favorite shows because we adore them. In some cases we mock them because we enjoy laughing at their unintentional humor, in that they're so bad they're good. In other cases we mock them because deep down we want them to be better, we know they can be better, and we may have even seen them be better in earlier days. We welcome a community of fans who can respect each other's differences in opinion while sharing the ability to snark with love.

"Homeland" Final Season Delayed AGAIN...Carrie Mathison's Trapped in a Russian Gulag and Has a "Fractured" Memory, So She's Conveniently Forgotten the Tortuous Events of This Very Long-Winded Series

If you’ve been catching up on the long…very long seven seasons of Homeland in preparation for the not-quite-so-anticipated final season, slooooooow down. Originally slated for summer 2019, season 8 of Homeland experienced a production delay, forcing Showtime to push the premiere back to November 2019. However, the bigwigs at Showtime are now citing their “ambitious” shooting locations and production requirements as necessitating another delay. (Translation: Showtime’s having a panic attack that sans Shameless, their two other most popular shows, The Affair and Homeland are ending at the same time. We gotta keep them subscribers as long as possible!) With that in mind, the final season of Homeland will now premiere in February 2020.

While announcing the second delay for the final season, Showtime also shared the details surrounding the season 8 plot. Without boring you, you should know that meme-worthy Carrie Mathison’s been stuck in a Russian gulag! She’s now recovering…BUT, in addition to her regularly scheduled mania, she now has a fractured memory! Yes, folks, a fractured memory…Carrie Mathison has forgotten the long list of tortuous events to which viewers have subjected themselves over the past seven seasons! How convenient!

For Christ’s sake, I was trapped in a Russian gulag! Be patient with me!!

In a bold, confident move, Showtime has set the premiere date for the same night as the Academy Awards (February 9, 2020), but let’s get real, no one watches anything live, right?!

That said, the greater question may be…do you even remember everything that’s happened in the past seven seasons of this show? If your memory’s fractured like Carrie and/or your patience is wearing thin, you can always rewatch the past seven seasons of Homeland from now till February 9 on Showtime.com or via the Showtime add-on with Hulu or Amazon (STREAMING DEAL TIP: You can get three weeks free by signing up for the one-week free trial on separate weeks with each platform). WARNING: You may slip into a coma during the many…very many…slow, boring sequences interspersed between the more interesting story that rears its head from time to time throughout the series.

Pending any further delays, will you even remember to watch the final season when it finally decides to premiere?

Stay tuned to find out. Until then…
